The Woodhill Park Research Retreat imports QSR software on demand and has done so for more than fifteen years. In fact, our association with the software, and with the inventors of the software, goes back more than twenty years. Jens was probably the first person on the planet to use a very early version of Tom and Lyn Richards’ NUD*IST software for the completion of his doctoral thesis. Since then he has introduced more than a thousand investigators to the skills of undertaking qualitative research with the aid of computer software. NVivo 9, the latest version of the product, is a software package that helps researchers to work with volumes of unstructured information like documents, surveys, audio, video and pictures.
Aside from teaching researchers how to use the application, Woodhill Park Research Retreat also imports the software. Our company does this mainly to help individual researchers but we also do this in order to help those working in government departments and in tertiary institutions because their projects invariably benefit from using the software. Using the application saves both time and money whilst promoting and enabling research rigour.
The price of the software varies according to exchange rates and there is a sliding scale of prices for purchasers: fundamentally, it’s more economical for educational agencies; costs somewhat more for government agencies and even more for commercial agencies. Commendably, QSR as a company provides discounts for bulk orders. In our view, the software is a complex but highly effective tool for managing and interrogating complex sets of qualitative data. However it is not cheap and that is not surprising given the wide-ranging range of data management and data analysis tools.
We invite you to investigate costs by clicking here; doing so will take you to the QSR website but we strongly encourage you to place your order for the software with Woodhill Park. To that end, after you’ve had a look at the prices, please feel free to talk with us about the software and about your learning needs.
We will probably advise you to trial the software before you purchase because it's a lot of money to outlay. We welcome such conversations and our hope continues to be that at least some of the revenue exchanged associated with purchasing QSR software remains within Aotearoa New Zealand, and yes, you will have to pay GST! The most important point we want to make is that we know we provide quality local assistance and research development courses for Kiwi researchers. That's why Woodhill Park exists.
