Woodhill Park Retreat

Professional Development

One of the many benefits that accrue from forming an alliance with staff at the Woodhill Park Research Retreat is that it becomes possible to tap into their skills in developing continuing professional development activities (CPD).  Because the costs of planning, developing, offering and reviewing varies (how long is a piece of string?) we have not listed any prices here.  Instead we invite you to contact either Dr Jens or Jenny Hansen to discuss your needs and aspirations either as an individual or on behalf of your organization or group.   We also invite you to check out this site for both news and details of up-coming courses and events that are being offered at Woodhill Park.  Typically, there will be a news item about what's been scheduled and extended details, together with enrollment forms, will be shown under the Events and Courses menu.

Continuing professional development, CPD, staff training, ongoing learning, P.D., capacity building, up-skilling, work development.  These are just some of the many terms that are used to label what is essentially a process of making sure that people in the workforce remain up-to-date and on top of their game.  Continuing professional development implies making available a suite of ways and means for ensuring that people within organizations learn how to perform together both effectively and harmoniously.  There are a raft of models of CPD and two are shown below.

The first is very simple and was sourced from the Internet - see www.nes.scot.nhs.uk/pharmacy/cpd/

The second model is more detailed but fundamentally it traverses the same interrelated staircases - viz - articulating professional development goals, identifying learning and development needs, planning strategies for further and ongoing development, appraising performances, reviewing progress, and so on.  This model was sourced from informationr.net/ir/12-4/colis/colisp06.html (Note - do scroll beyond the model to read more.)

The key thing for people viewing this page is to note that we seek to follow the kinds of models that we have shown.  We deliberately indicated that we've not put any prices on this page but because experience has shown us that people like to 'anchor' their thinking to price-sets, we suggest you look at the page on teaching and consulting to find out more.
